We have over 25 years’ experience project managing the production of all kinds of publishing material including animations, directories, children’s books, computer games, trade non-fiction and educational textbooks.
Barrett Editing has the professional skills to confidently manage the production of a manuscript or original idea from its rawest state to market ready.
Project Managment track record
We have a long history of project managing some fantastic publishing projects, including:
- European and National Award-winning Bua na Cainte
– multi-media Irish language programme for 5 –12-year-olds, produced for the Educational Company of Ireland (Edco)
– managing a team of 20+ professionals on the production of hundreds of animations, songs, audio recordings, 23 textbooks, workbooks and teacher’s resource books, 43 storybooks and thousands of online games and PDF resources.
- Health and Wellbeing SPHE(Social, Personal and Health Education) (Edco) Post-primary series for 12–15 year-olds – textbooks and teacher’s resource books
- Make the Home you Love (O’Brien Press)
– working with a team of authors (including three architects), designers, photographers and interior designers

Project Managment Skills
Working with a network of editors, designers, typesetters, animators, illustrators, game developers and proofreaders, Barrett Editing can:
- Provide and manage schedules with all stakeholders and deal with any conflicts.
- Ensure that the project stays within the agreed budget.
- Work from receipt of text to providing print-ready and signed-off files.
- Negotiate with all contractors and authors on template design and sign-off.
- Liaise with authors/originators and sales and marketing throughout, particularly on branding/cover designs.
- Globally source animators, product developers and game developers for digital projects.
- Manage illustrators and designers and generate project-specific art briefs.
Deal with multiple rounds of proofs, changes and edits to meet the project deadline.
